Certified contractors
In 2001, KRCA launched its Certified Contractors Program.
This program was designed for contractors who desired to become the "elite" roofing contractors doing business in Kentuckiana. By subjecting themselves to higher standards and additional scrutiny, certified contractors have set themselves apart from other roofing contractor companies.
To become certified, KRCA members must take the following steps:
- Provide evidence they carry a minimum of $1 million in liability insurance.
Regular members must only provide evidence of some insurance; many nonmembers carry no insurance.
- Post a $10,000 bond.
This serves as a means of assuring customers the job they are promised is the job they will receive.
- Sign and agree to abide by a strict "Code of Ethics".
If a member does not abide to the code, he will lose his certification.
- Attend at least 10 hours of approved continuing education annually.
Certified contractors are required to stay up-to-date in areas of materials, equipment, procedures, insurance, laws and other general information.
Only by contracting with a KRCA certified contractor can a consumer be more assured that the job will be done right.
