House committee approves business incentive bill
On March 9, Kentucky's House budget committee approved House Bill 229, which would expand economic development incentives the state offers employers, according to
The Courier-Journal
.
The bill had been approved by the budget committee but was sent back by House leaders because of certain concerns. The House committee passed the bill after it was revised to include more transparency and stringent requirements.
The revised bill includes changes that eliminate a new incentive to give tax credits for continuing education of employees at companies that create at least five jobs, as well as add more reporting requirements for companies that would receive certain benefits.
The bill now must pass the House and Senate for approval.
