Kentucky is accepting claims for extended unemployment benefits

Kentucky currently is accepting claims for the most recent extension of unemployment benefits, according to www.kentucky.com. President Barack Obama signed the extension into law Nov. 6, offering up to 14 additional weeks of unemployment benefits for workers who have exhausted all their benefits.

Those eligible can file online at www.oet.ky.gov.

Almost 10,000 Kentucky residents who have exhausted 79 weeks of benefits may be eligible for payments retroactive to Nov. 8. A link soon will be available in the online application to allow requests for retroactive payments.

Kentucky residents receiving unemployment benefits that will end on or before Dec. 26 automatically will be enrolled for the extended benefits.
