Kentucky's unemployment rate decreased from 10.7 percent to 10.6 percent in April, according to
The Courier-Journal
.
Kentucky gained 7,500 jobs in April, which was the second consecutive month of job gains and highest level of nonfarm employment since April 2009.
"Kentucky's economy continued to stabilize in April 2010," says Justine Detzel, chief labor market analyst for Kentucky's Office of Employment and Training. "However, temporary rather than permanent jobs are fueling the employment growth."
The state added 2,300 jobs in the professional and business services sector and 2,200 jobs in the manufacturing sector. Kentucky's leisure and hospitality sector lost 900 jobs.
